URL within the QR code to allow a user to check-in without opening the app
A user should be able to scan the QR code with their camera to check in and shouldnt be required to open the app

Agreed scanning the QR code should trigger the app to open and check in.
Just like when you scan most QR codes it opens up your web-browser.

The check-in process using QR code is quite cumbersome and is easier to do by going to the browser or app by checking in. The addition of QR code should be making check-in process easier but this is currently not the case.
With QR code, user should be able to scan and be checked in without the need for the app.
