We have it set to 15mins before Resume kicks in and 1 hour before Timeout occurs.
This is to maintain the best performance if using Condeco in Azure and prevents the application from constantly polling.
I agree. I reckon there should be a master set of templates that all the groups inherit from, meaning a single change to the email templates is instantly reflected across your environment.
They should be email templates based on HTML with greater customization and should allow you to be flexible with the information that can be placed inside the system.
You should also be able to create custom email tags, to pull information through from the application and then use those custom tags in your own templates.
